About me

"...let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith..." - Hebrews 12:1-2

Hi! I'm Aubrie. I am a high school counselor, former Spanish teacher, with a love for language and working with teens! It is my dream to be the hands and feet of Christ to my students, friends, and family. I like running, reading, being with my friends, the beach, studying other languages, and learning about other cultures. I am passionate about traveling and have been to Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Russia, all over Europe, and have visited most of the States.

I graduated from Manhattan Christian College in 2009 with an associate's in biblical studies, and received my bachelor's in secondary education/Spanish/ESOL from Kansas State in 2012. I have a master's in school counseling and will finish my LPC this May.

In college, I lived in Juarez, Mexico instead of studying abroad. I worked as a construction intern for Casas por Cristo and totally got out of my comfort zone by learning how to build homes for the homeless. It was truly one of the best times of my life. You can read about my experience here and about lots of other Mexico experiences on my old blog at aubrielyn.blogspot.com

My husband is one of the best things that has happened to me. He is hard-working, loves Jesus, loves kids, and loves me even when I am a grouch. What more could I ever ask for?

We have been married almost 10 years and have a beautiful little girl, Lily, who was born in March of 2019.

Through this blog, I hope you will find encouragement to continue following Jesus and know that you are not alone in struggling through life (one of my favorite things to write about is my struggles!). I also hope to be able to share about my races, running tips, classroom tips, and about my travel experiences!
