This year, I was looking for something new and engaging to try with my Spanish I classes. We were just a few days ahead from last year, so I decided to break out this mini-project we did when I was in high school French. (So I owe a big shout-out to my high school French teacher Madame Nitcher!)
I created a rubric, which you can find attached and use if you'd like. I kept the directions simple, because I was just really looking for the kids to have fun while engaging in the language and showing me what they knew. Feel free to change anything so it works better for your classroom.
The library was booked with classes, so...no printing! Luckily I had asked parents to donate magazines for a project we did last fall, so I got those out and let the kids look for their pictures. I told them that they could put whatever they wanted in their dream house, as long as they could write about it in Spanish.
We've been using the WordReference app on iPad, and so a lot of the kids were able to look up and learn new words for the items they were putting in their houses.
Although many of the kids were done or close to done on Thursday, I made the due date March 23rd to give some more time to some of my kids that needed it. I will post some pictures of examples when they're done! This is a great way to get them to use their new words about the house and items that are in the house. Buena suerte! :)
